How to Use UNI-T UT372D Bluetooth and iENV App Malaysia
The **UNI-T UT372D 2-in-1 Tachometer** supports Bluetooth connection with the UNI-T **iENV mobile application**.
This function allows technicians to view measurement information on a compatible mobile device instead of relying only on the tachometer display. It can be useful when the instrument must be aimed at a rotating target from a position where the screen is difficult to observe.
## What Can UT372D Bluetooth Be Used For?
Bluetooth connection can support applications such as:
- Viewing readings on a compatible phone or tablet
- Observing RPM changes while measuring
- Keeping the mobile-device display in a more convenient position
- Supporting data review during maintenance work
- Recording measurement information according to the available app functions
The exact display, storage and export functions can vary according to the iENV application version and mobile operating system.
Bluetooth should be confirmed on the intended phone or tablet before it becomes part of a formal maintenance procedure.
## Bluetooth Does Not Measure RPM by Itself
The UT372D performs the actual measurement.
The mobile application receives information from the tachometer through Bluetooth. It does not turn a phone into an independent tachometer and does not remove the need to position the UT372D correctly.
The technician must still:
- Select the correct measurement mode
- Apply reflective tape for optical RPM measurement
- Aim the sensor at the target
- Maintain the correct distance
- Use the correct contact wheel for surface-speed measurement
- Follow machinery safety procedures
A Bluetooth connection cannot correct an incorrect measuring setup.
## Preparing the UT372D
Before connecting:
1. Install suitable batteries in the UT372D.
2. Switch on the tachometer.
3. Confirm that the low-battery indicator is not displayed.
4. Select the required measurement mode.

The phone’s general Bluetooth setting alone may not be sufficient if Bluetooth has not been activated on the UT372D.
### Check Application Permissions
Depending on the mobile operating system, the iENV application may require permission to:
- Access nearby Bluetooth devices
- Use Bluetooth scanning
- Access location-related services
- Save or share files
Review the permissions requested by the official application and follow company data-security requirements.
### Move the Devices Closer
Keep the phone near the UT372D during the initial connection.
Walls, metal machinery and other wireless devices may affect communication.
### Disconnect Other Mobile Devices
The tachometer may fail to connect if it is already linked to another phone or tablet.
Close the application or disable Bluetooth on the previously connected device before trying again.
### Restart the Connection
If necessary:
1. Close the iENV application.
2. Switch Bluetooth off and on.
3. Restart the UT372D.
4. Reopen the application.
5. Search for the instrument again.
### Check Battery Condition
Low battery power may affect instrument operation and wireless communication. Replace the batteries if the low-battery indication appears or operation becomes unstable.
## Using the App During Non-Contact RPM Measurement
For optical RPM measurement:
1. Stop and isolate the machine.
2. Apply one reflective target.
3. Restore the necessary guarding.
4. Restart the equipment safely.
5. Select non-contact RPM mode.
6. Aim the UT372D at the target.
7. Observe the reading on the instrument and connected device.
8. Wait for the reading to stabilise.
9. Record the machine condition together with the RPM.
The mobile device should be positioned where it will not fall into the machine or distract the operator.
## Using Bluetooth for Maintenance Records
An RPM value is more useful when the operating condition is also recorded.
A maintenance record may include:
- Machine identification
- Date and time
- Measurement location
- Contact or non-contact mode
- Motor or shaft RPM
- VFD frequency or setting
- Machine load
- Maximum and minimum readings
- Observed sound or vibration
- Technician’s name
If the application supports saving or exporting readings, confirm how the file is named, stored and transferred before relying on it for company records.
For critical maintenance work, keep a separate written or approved digital record according to the organisation’s procedure.
## Bluetooth Does Not Mean Wi-Fi or Cloud Connection
The UT372D uses Bluetooth to communicate with a nearby compatible mobile device.
This should not be confused with:
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- Internet connection
- Remote monitoring from another building
- Automatic cloud storage
- Permanent machine monitoring
- Integration with a factory control system
For continuous or remote RPM monitoring, a fixed speed sensor and suitable data-acquisition system may be required.
## When Is Bluetooth Useful?
The iENV connection may be useful when:
- The tachometer screen is difficult to see while aiming
- A second technician needs to observe the reading nearby
- RPM changes need to be monitored during adjustment
- Data will be reviewed after a measurement
- Several readings need to be organised
- Mobile-device viewing is preferred over a PC connection
For simple occasional RPM checking, the UT372D can still be used directly without depending on Bluetooth.
## Bluetooth Is Not a Substitute for Safe Positioning
Do not look only at the phone while standing near operating machinery.
The technician must remain aware of:
- Rotating shafts
- Belts and pulleys
- Fan blades
- Couplings
- Conveyor nip points
- Cables and walking hazards
Position the phone securely and keep both hands and clothing away from moving components.
