UNI-T UT381PV Solar Irradiance Meter for Solar Panel Testing Malaysia
UNI-T UT381PV Solar Irradiance Meter for Solar Panel Testing Malaysia
Content
The UNI-T UT381PV Solar Irradiance Meter is designed for measuring solar irradiance during photovoltaic panel installation, inspection and maintenance.
Unlike a basic solar power meter, the UT381PV can measure solar irradiance, panel temperature, ambient temperature, inclination angle and azimuth direction. This allows solar installers and maintenance teams to collect several important site measurements using one portable instrument.
Solar Irradiance Measurement
The UT381PV measures solar irradiance from 0 to 1400 W/mΒ².
Solar irradiance measurement helps technicians determine how much solar energy is reaching the panel surface at the time of testing. This information can be compared with the panelβs electrical output when investigating low generation performance.
A low power reading does not always indicate a defective panel. It may also be caused by:
Weak sunlight or cloud cover
Incorrect panel orientation
Excessive panel temperature
Dust or dirt on the panel
Partial shading
Wiring or connector problems
Inverter or system losses
Recording irradiance together with electrical test results provides a more meaningful assessment of PV system performance.
Panel and Ambient Temperature Measurement
Solar panel temperature can rise significantly under direct sunlight. As panel temperature increases, electrical performance may decrease even when the available sunlight is strong.
The dual temperature measurement channels allow technicians to monitor ambient conditions and panel temperature during inspection. The supplied suction-cup temperature probe can be attached to the panel surface for practical field measurements.
The UT381PV provides a temperature range of β40Β°C to 120Β°C, making it suitable for both outdoor PV installations and controlled laboratory testing.
Inclination and Azimuth Measurement
Correct panel orientation is important for achieving consistent solar energy collection.
The UT381PV includes:
Inclination measurement from β90Β° to +90Β°
Azimuth measurement from 0Β° to 360Β°
Compass calibration function
Quick-release mounting bracket
These functions help solar installers check whether panels are facing the intended direction and installed at the required tilt angle.
Data Recording and Mobile App Connection
The instrument can store up to 12,800 measurement sets, with a selectable recording interval from one second to 60 minutes.
Bluetooth connectivity allows measurement data to be transferred to the UNI-T iENV mobile application. This is useful when technicians need to review readings, monitor changes or maintain inspection records.
The UT381PV can also be integrated with the UNI-T UT541 15kW Photovoltaic I-V Curve Analyzer for more complete PV system testing.
Designed for Outdoor Solar Work
Solar inspection instruments are frequently exposed to heat, dust and changing outdoor conditions. The UT381PV includes:
IP65 protection
UV-resistant housing
Two-metre drop resistance
Approximately 95 hours of battery operation
Audible and LED indications
Automatic power-off
Compact handheld design
These features make it suitable for rooftop solar projects, commercial PV installations, solar farms and photovoltaic maintenance work in Malaysia.
Typical Applications
The UNI-T UT381PV is suitable for:
Rooftop solar panel installation
Solar panel tilt-angle checking
Panel orientation verification
PV system performance inspection
Solar farm maintenance
Troubleshooting low solar output
Comparing irradiance with electrical output
Photovoltaic laboratory testing
Solar product testing and evaluation
For solar contractors in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Penang and throughout Malaysia, the UT381PV provides a practical way to record the environmental and installation conditions that influence solar panel performance.
