FNIRSI GC-01 Nuclear Radiation Detector & Geiger Counter Malaysia
FNIRSI GC-01 Nuclear Radiation Detector & Geiger Counter Malaysia
The FNIRSI GC-01 Nuclear Radiation Detector is a portable Geiger counter designed for monitoring ionizing radiation levels in the surrounding environment.
Available from MTM Precision Sdn Bhd Malaysia, the GC-01 provides a practical solution for users who need to check radiation levels, observe background radiation and identify unusual changes in radiation readings.
What Can the FNIRSI GC-01 Detect?
The FNIRSI GC-01 uses a Geiger-Müller (GM) tube to detect ionizing radiation.
It is designed to respond to:
Gamma Radiation (γ) – High-energy electromagnetic radiation from radioactive materials.
Beta Radiation (β) – Charged particles emitted by certain radioactive substances.
X-Ray Radiation – Ionizing electromagnetic radiation commonly associated with X-ray equipment.
Detection performance depends on radiation energy, source geometry and instrument sensitivity.
Important: The GC-01 is not designed for measuring electromagnetic fields from power lines, mobile phone towers or Wi-Fi equipment.

Applications in Malaysia
1. Environmental Radiation Monitoring
Monitor background ionizing radiation levels in homes, offices, workshops and outdoor environments.
2. Educational Demonstrations
Useful for introducing students and technical trainees to radiation measurements and basic radiation safety concepts.
3. Industrial Screening
Provides preliminary radiation screening in selected industrial environments where an appropriate Geiger counter is suitable.
4. Radiation Awareness
Helps users understand radiation dose-rate readings and observe changes in measured radiation levels.
The GC-01 is a screening instrument and should not replace certified radiation survey equipment or professional radiation safety assessments where these are required.
Understanding μSv/h and CPM
μSv/h (Microsievert per Hour) indicates an estimated radiation dose rate.
CPM (Counts Per Minute) indicates the number of detection events recorded within one minute.
A higher CPM generally indicates more detected events, but CPM cannot be converted into an accurate dose rate without appropriate detector calibration and energy-response information.
FNIRSI GC-01 vs GC-02
The FNIRSI GC-01 is suitable for customers looking for an entry-level portable radiation detector.
The FNIRSI GC-02 is another model worth considering for customers comparing display design, functions and usability.
Customers should compare the latest specifications before choosing between these two models.
