DITRON 107 Series Vernier Depth Calipers | 150mm to 600mm Depth & Step Measurement Malaysia

DITRON 107 Series Vernier Depth Calipers

The DITRON 107 series provides mechanical measurement of hole depth, recess depth and step height. Available in measuring ranges from 0–150mm to 0–600mm, the series uses a main scale and vernier readout without batteries.

All listed models have a 0.02mm vernier resolution. Base dimensions and catalogue-stated accuracy vary by model.

For machining workshops, mould makers and inspection departments in Malaysia, selection should consider measuring depth, reference surface width, feature access and required tolerance.

CHOOSING THE MEASURING RANGE

150mm and 200mm Models

For depth measurements within the selected capacity. Both list a 100mm base dimension and ±0.03mm accuracy.

300mm Model

Provides additional depth capacity with a 100mm base dimension and ±0.04mm stated accuracy.

500mm Model

Provides up to 500mm measuring capacity with a 120mm base dimension and ±0.05mm stated accuracy.

600mm Model

The largest listed model provides up to 600mm capacity with a 150mm base dimension and ±0.07mm stated accuracy.

Choose a range that covers the required depth while meeting the inspection tolerance. A longer range does not mean higher accuracy.

DEPTH MEASUREMENT

The reference base rests on the workpiece surface while the measuring blade extends into the accessible hole or recess.

The reading represents the distance between the reference surface and the surface contacted by the blade.

Before measuring, confirm that:

• The base can sit securely on the reference surface.

• The blade can enter without interference.

• The measuring end contacts the intended bottom surface.

• The instrument can remain correctly aligned.

The measuring range alone does not establish the smallest hole or slot that the blade can enter.

STEP HEIGHT MEASUREMENT

The catalogue also lists step measurement.

A suitable reference arrangement allows the instrument to check the height difference between accessible surfaces. Follow the manufacturer’s positioning method and ensure both reference and measuring contacts are correctly seated.

BASE SIZE AND WORKPIECE SUPPORT

The listed base dimension a is:

107-150/100: 100mm

107-200/100: 100mm

107-300/100: 100mm

107-500/120: 120mm

107-600/150: 150mm

A wider base requires sufficient seating area. Check the workpiece geometry rather than assuming the base can bridge every opening or sit securely on a narrow surface.

Burrs, chips, curved surfaces or rocking of the base can affect the result.

APPLICATIONS IN MALAYSIA

The DITRON 107 series can be considered for:

• Machined recess depth checks.

• Accessible hole depth measurement.

• Mould and die feature inspection.

• Step height checks.

• Maintenance and replacement-part assessment.

• Incoming component inspection.

For workshops and factories in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang, select according to feature depth, opening size, reference surface and tolerance.

For close-tolerance depth inspection, assess whether a depth micrometer or another measuring system is more appropriate.

RESOLUTION AND ACCURACY

The listed 0.02mm resolution describes the vernier reading increment.

Accuracy is a separate specification:

150mm model: ±0.03mm

200mm model: ±0.03mm

300mm model: ±0.04mm

500mm model: ±0.05mm

600mm model: ±0.07mm

Reading the scale to 0.02mm does not establish ±0.02mm accuracy. Alignment, contact force, cleanliness, temperature and instrument condition also influence results.

VERNIER OR DIGITAL DEPTH CALIPER?

The 107 series provides a mechanical readout without battery replacement or charging.

A digital depth caliper provides a direct numerical display and may offer functions such as unit conversion or comparative zero-setting, depending on the model.

Choose according to the required accuracy, measuring geometry and operator preference. Do not assume functions from another DITRON series are included on the 107.

BASIC MEASURING PROCEDURE

1. Clean the reference base, measuring end and workpiece.

2. Check zero alignment according to the operating instructions.

3. Seat the base securely on the reference surface.

4. Advance the blade gently to the intended measuring surface.

5. Keep the instrument aligned with the required depth direction.

6. Apply light, consistent contact force.

7. Use the locking screw gently if needed, avoiding movement of the setting.

8. Read the main scale and aligned vernier graduation.

9. Repeat the measurement to assess consistency.

For drilled holes, define whether the required dimension is the drill-point depth or the full-diameter depth. Contact location can affect the result.

CARE AND BASIC CHECKS

• Keep the scale and sliding surfaces clean.

• Protect the measuring end and reference base from damage.

• Avoid excessive force.

• Do not use the blade to clear chips or debris.

• Avoid measuring hot or moving components.

• Clean and dry the instrument after use.

• Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance and storage instructions.

• Check performance against suitable reference standards according to your quality procedure.
