What is the heatstroke (WBGT) index?
Heatstroke can occur not only during sports activities but also in everyday life and at work. To prevent heatstroke, WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) is used as the "temperature standard," and temperature levels are divided into four levels: "Danger" (over 31°C), "High Alert" (28-31°C), "Caution" (25-28°C), and "Caution" (below 25°C). While a black bulb thermometer is typically used to calculate WBGT, this device simply calculates and displays the WBGT standard using the built-in thermometer and hygrometer.| Temperature reference (WBGT) |
Guidelines for daily activities to be careful of | Precautions |
|---|---|---|
| Danger (above 31°C) |
Risks that occur in all daily activities | Elderly people are at high risk of developing the disease even when at rest. Avoid going outside as much as possible and move to a cool room. |
| High alert (28-31°C) |
When going out, avoid the hot sun, and when indoors, be careful of rising room temperatures. | |
| Caution (25-28℃) |
Risks of moderate or higher activity | Take regular, adequate rest breaks when exercising or doing strenuous work. |
| Caution (below 25°C) |
Risks of vigorous daily activities | Generally, the risk is low, but there is a risk of it developing during strenuous exercise or heavy work. |
- The WBGT here is estimated from the maximum temperature and humidity of the day.
- 28-31℃ means above 28℃ and below 31℃
