The laser methane telemetry instrument consists of an optomechanical system, a signal processing system, a display and alarm system, and a housing assembly. It is primarily used for long-distance measurement of the concentration of methane or methane-containing gases (natural gas, coal gas, or similar gases).
 
The telemetry instrument emits an infrared laser beam to the detection point, enabling rapid measurement of the gas concentration between the detection point and the telemetry instrument. For ease of observation, the telemetry instrument also simultaneously emits a visible green laser beam to the detection point. This telemetry instrument can detect and display the methane concentration at the detected location in real time and accurately. When the concentration exceeds the alarm threshold, it triggers an audible and visual alarm to facilitate subsequent personnel action.
