G10S-CO vs G10S-O vs G10S-HS These detectors may look similar, but their applications are different. G10S-CO Measures carbon monoxide and is relevant to combustion-related CO hazards. G10S-O Measures oxygen concentration and may be used where oxygen deficiency or enrichment is a concern. G10S-HS Measures hydrogen sulphide and is relevant to applications such as wastewater, sewage and certain confined-space environments. The detector should therefore be selected according to the actual target gas, not simply by instrument appearance or price. Bump Testing and Calibration Portable gas detectors require proper maintenance. A bump test exposes the detector to an appropriate test gas to verify that the sensor and alarm response are functioning. Calibration checks and, where necessary, adjusts the instrument against a known reference gas concentration. The appropriate frequency should follow the manufacturer's recommendations, site procedures and applicable safety requirements.
