NOYAFA JMS11 Formaldehyde and TVOC Air Quality Tester for Home Use Malaysia

Affordable Indoor Air Quality Screening with the NOYAFA JMS11

The NOYAFA JMS11 is a compact air quality tester designed for quick indoor screening of formaldehyde (HCHO) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC).

It is suitable for homeowners, tenants, office users, car owners and property inspectors who want a simple way to compare indoor air conditions without operating a complicated professional instrument.

The JMS11 is particularly useful after:

Home or office renovation

Painting work

Installation of new cabinets

Delivery of new furniture

Application of adhesive or sealant

Installation of flooring or wall panels

Cleaning with strong chemical products

Its portable design allows users to check several rooms and compare readings between different locations.

What Can the NOYAFA JMS11 Measure?

The NOYAFA JMS11 is designed to display two important indoor air quality parameters:

Formaldehyde—or HCHO

Formaldehyde may be released from certain manufactured wood products, adhesives, coatings, fabrics and building materials.

Possible indoor sources include:

New cabinets

Particleboard furniture

Laminate flooring

Wall panels

Paint and coating products

Adhesives and sealants

Newly renovated interiors

The JMS11 provides an initial indication of HCHO concentration so users can compare conditions before and after ventilation.

Total volatile organic compounds—or TVOC

TVOC represents a broad group of volatile organic compounds that may be present in indoor air.

Possible sources include:

Paint

Solvents

Cleaning chemicals

Air fresheners

Perfume

Adhesive

New furniture

Automotive interior materials

A TVOC reading does not identify each individual chemical. It provides a general indication that volatile compounds may be present.

Key Features of the NOYAFA JMS11

Simultaneous HCHO and TVOC display

The tester allows users to observe formaldehyde and TVOC readings without changing between multiple instruments.

Colour air-quality indication

The coloured indicators help users understand whether the displayed condition is relatively good, requires attention or has reached the unit’s warning level.

Audible warning

The tester can produce an alarm when the detected condition exceeds its programmed warning threshold.

Compact handheld design

Its slim body is easy to carry between different rooms, offices, hotel rooms and vehicles.

Simple operation

The JMS11 is intended for users who need straightforward screening rather than complicated data logging or professional sampling procedures.

Replaceable battery operation

The unit uses AA alkaline batteries, making battery replacement convenient when it is used away from a charging point.

Where Can the JMS11 Be Used?

Newly renovated homes

Renovation materials, paint, adhesive and new built-in furniture may release volatile compounds. The JMS11 can be used to compare readings in bedrooms, living rooms and newly completed areas.

New offices

Office partitions, carpets, furniture and renovation materials may affect indoor air conditions. Users can perform an initial check before or after occupying the premises.

Rental properties

Tenants may use the JMS11 when inspecting a furnished room, apartment, condominium or house, particularly when there is a noticeable chemical smell.

Furniture and cabinet installation

Readings may be compared near new cabinets and in an unaffected part of the building. This helps identify whether the observed change is localised.

Cars and commercial vehicles

Vehicle interiors contain plastic, adhesive, upholstery and cleaning products. The portable JMS11 can be used for initial screening after the vehicle has been parked.

Hotel and homestay rooms

Travellers may use the detector to perform a quick check when entering a room with a strong renovation, cleaning or fragrance-related smell.

How to Use the NOYAFA JMS11

Step 1: Install the batteries

Install the required AA alkaline batteries according to the indicated polarity.

Step 2: Switch on the detector

Turn on the JMS11 in a clean, well-ventilated environment whenever practical.

Step 3: Allow the reading to stabilise

Place the detector in the intended room and allow sufficient time for the displayed values to respond to the surrounding air.

Avoid making a decision based only on the first number displayed immediately after switching on the unit.

Step 4: Position the tester correctly

Place the instrument in an open location where air can circulate through its ventilation openings.

Do not cover the air inlet or place the detector:

Directly against a wall

Inside a closed drawer

Immediately beside an air-conditioner outlet

Directly above an open chemical container

Next to perfume, alcohol or sanitiser

Step 5: Compare several areas

Take readings in more than one location. For example:

Centre of the room

Near new furniture

Inside another unaffected room

Before ventilation

After ventilation

Step 6: Record the results

Record the displayed readings, location, time and ventilation condition. Repeated measurements are more useful than a single isolated result.

Why Does the Reading Change After Opening a Window?

Opening doors and windows increases the exchange between indoor and outdoor air. This may dilute volatile pollutants that have accumulated in a closed room.

If the reading decreases after ventilation and rises again after the room remains closed, this may indicate that an indoor material or product continues to release volatile compounds.

However, changing readings alone do not identify the exact pollution source. Further investigation may be required to determine which material is responsible.

Why Does Perfume or Sanitiser Affect the Tester?

The JMS11 uses semiconductor gas-sensing technology. This type of sensor may respond to several volatile substances rather than only one specific compound.

Alcohol, perfume, cleaning spray and sanitiser may therefore cause temporary increases in the displayed reading.

For a more meaningful result:

Do not use perfume immediately before testing

Keep alcohol-based sanitiser away from the detector

Avoid spraying cleaning chemicals during measurement

Ventilate the room after chemical use

Repeat the test after the room has stabilised

Can the JMS11 Detect PM2.5?

No. The NOYAFA JMS11 is intended for HCHO and TVOC screening. It does not replace a dedicated PM2.5 or particle monitor.

For haze, smoke and fine-particle measurements, users should select an instrument that specifically includes:

PM2.5

PM10

Optical particle sensor

Particle concentration displayed in µg/m³

This distinction is especially important during haze conditions in Malaysia. A room may have low TVOC but elevated PM2.5, or elevated TVOC without a high particulate level.

Can the JMS11 Measure Carbon Dioxide?

The JMS11 should not be treated as a professional carbon dioxide meter unless the supplied specification clearly states a dedicated CO2 sensor and measurement range in ppm.

Customers who need to evaluate ventilation in occupied classrooms, meeting rooms, offices or commercial buildings should choose a meter equipped with a specified NDIR CO2 sensor.

HCHO, TVOC and CO2 are different parameters and should not be used interchangeably.

Is the JMS11 Suitable for Professional Indoor Air Quality Reports?

The JMS11 is best used for:

Initial screening

Room-to-room comparison

Observing changes after ventilation

Checking before and after renovation

Identifying locations that may require further investigation

It should not be presented as a replacement for:

Laboratory analysis

Regulatory compliance monitoring

Occupational exposure assessment

Certified indoor air quality inspection

Professional sampling performed by a competent assessor

If a measurement involves employee exposure, legal claims or formal reporting, use the relevant professional procedure and calibrated equipment.

JMS11 or JMS12: Which One Is More Suitable?

Choose the JMS11 when you need:

HCHO and TVOC screening

Simple controls

A lower-cost detector

Replaceable batteries

Occasional home or vehicle checks

Choose the JMS12 when you also require:

Temperature measurement

Relative humidity measurement

Rechargeable operation

USB Type-C charging

More frequent room inspections

The JMS11 remains a practical choice for customers who want a straightforward entry-level HCHO and TVOC detector.
